Desperate Measures – Look Inside!

As I put the final touches to the final volume of A Fair Prospect, I thought I would pre-empt Amazon and offer you a ‘look inside’ the opening chapters of Desperate Measures!

Things are still on target for it to be released during May, though I cannot be specific on the actual date just yet. For those of you who are keen to read the final instalment, I apologise for the wait but hope you enjoy this excerpt, which you can find on the new page entitled Look Inside (see tab above).

Happy weekend everyone!!

    • Hi Kate!

I am not familiar with the Sunshine Awards but I have just been to have a look. Thank you so much for including me. I am very new to his Blog world. Does one now award only those who have not received one before and if so how do I find that out!

Thank you again for including me!

Any news on the release date? Will it be before the holiday weekend?

    • Karen, I am sorry, I am away at the moment. Release is close but I am not happy with one chapter, and although I am keen to get it out there, after 7 years working on the story, I don’t want to hit that ‘publish’ button until I am 100% satisfied that I have done the best I can to make it a good reading experience.

Am happy your are taking the time needed to put in finishing touches! After so many years, we can wait until you are satisfied. In the meantime, I have been rereading some of my favorites by other authors (Austen, Heyer, Metzger, Aidan, Reynolds, Wells, Lillian, etc.). When you do release, I suspect we will all reread volumes 1 & 2, then savor the last volume! Take your time, we all want you to be pleased with the result. cheers, dave

I have been re -reading all my favorites like Wells, Berdoll and Reynolds. Have you tried the two book series “Darcy’s Passions” and “Darcy’s Temptetions”. Temptations was so sad that it made me cry,

I understand you want the book to be perfect but I wish you had not made the comment on May 18 that the book was still on target for a May release date. I would have never started reading your story if I had known that May would change to soon within 2 weeks. I absolutely HATE not having a ending to a story so I usually wait until I can purchase the whole story at once . At this point I am so disappoint I do not know if I will get the third volume.

I cannot apologise enough for letting you, and many other readers down, on this. There are a variety of reasons why I missed the May deadline, and I will definitely be doing an update here on the website on Sunday to let everyone know what is happening.
I understand your disappointment and annoyance with me, and I do hope that I will have some concrete and positive news to share later this weekend.

Thank you Cassandra. I really loved love the book. Sorry I voiced my frustration with the release delay in such a negative manner.

I must agree with Jennifer. I’m more than discouraged with unfilled promises on the completion date. I’ve been checking regularly and vol III is still not listed for sale. The next time i probably will not buy another book that is continued in separate volumes unless all volumes have been released.

Patience is a virtue. And I am content to be patient knowing that the third volume is coming and soon at that. Anything wonderful is worth the wait and will not the anticipation make the arrival that much better? I would much rather wait and read something that is great than read something that is mediocre and unfinished because the author was rushed. Please don’t let the impatience and disappointment of others weigh you down. I trust you will finish the book before a one of us dies of suspense ๐Ÿ™‚

Holly, am so glad you posted! I was mulling a comment myself. When you think about Cassandra working seven years on this project, an extra tad of time at the very end is not important in the big picture. I looked back and the first volumes published for kindle in March and April, where the second was scheduled to publish in May. That puts the third volume on or ahead of schedule!

When you read all the blue post responses on this site, it is obvious Cassandra is trying very hard to satisfy everyone! Since she also has a family and a day job as a PA, her life is packed.

The third volume will publish soon – and it is not critical for me precisely when. I plan to reread volumes one and two before the third anyway to reconnect with the characters and then savor the third volume. After all, do we only read these books once?

As you say Holly, patience and I would mention understanding and consideration as other virtues to add when dealing with a seven year trek.

Dave, I would have to say I completely agree with you and now it would seem that my ‘virtuous’ waiting has paid off ๐Ÿ˜‰ . I hope you will enjoy the final volume as I am certain I will.
