I'm Cass, and I write the sort of stories I love to read - heart-warming, character driven and strong on location. I lean heavily towards the upbeat in both my reading and my writing.
As one of my favourite authors, Jane Austen, once wrote, ‘let other pens dwell on guilt and misery’.

Lizzy, I sense a bit of bitterness… that mention of how much she missed her old (status) life. I wonder if it means she feels terrible that had he still liked her, he would definitely not even consider her now?

Somehow I don’t feel pity for Darcy, though I do not feel bad for Darcy at all! I do hope that Elizabeth will haunt his waking and sleeping hours so help him god if he is a high-handed prick…

Ah, I dearly love a delusional Darcy. Yes, dear man, return to the Grange to determine if Jane is in residence (you are simply going to ensure you will be able to protect Bingley’s sensibilities). Then, return to the Grange again to collect your cravat, which you will conveniently forget on your second visit. Then, return to the Grange again to bring them some of your cook’s famous jam. Then, return to the Grange again to drop off some rabbits that were killed by the men in the house party. Then, return to the Grange again to play a game of chess with Mr. Bennet. Of course, you should never think that you are returning to the Grange because you want to see Elizabeth — you have put Elizabeth behind you — yes, that’s your story and you’re sticking to it.

I am concerned for Kitty and May’s fate! I hope they are in London with the Gardiners. Can’t wait to know more. Is Mr Wentworth a relation to Captain Wentworth? Is he perhaps developing a tendre for dear Jane? So many questions…so much to look forward to…Loving it.

I’m intrigued by both Darcy’s and Lizzy’s reaction. I also cannot wait to hear Mr. Bennet speak more of the water dousing! lol
Now, is the Mr. Wentworth, Captain Wentworth’s brother that is a vicor? Might he possibly be married to Mary or Kitty? Hmmm, or is he interested in Jane? So much to think about, here.
I also am loving that Darcy’s valet is ‘Thornton’ and a ‘Higgins’ was mentioned earlier too. Whether this is coincidence or a nod to names in North & South, I don’t know, but I like it much! Which might it be, fair author? 🙂

Glad you spotted the Wentworth connection, Janet!
I have to admit to being a huge N&S fan, so yes, I do tend to use names from that book/adaptation, hence using Latimer! Thornton was the name of Darcy’s valet in A Fair Prospect, so I was just being lazy, but I do have a whole back story for him not relevant to this story (he’s John Thornton’s grandfather).

Didn’t get a chance to catch up with Capter 11 yesterday, much as I would live to have done so. A busy day out with our friends out paid to that, so I’m trying to sneak in before the last episode of the GBBO on the BBC. At least I’ll only have to wait one day for the next chapter.
Darcy’s definitely deluding himself, isn’t he, when he thinks he’s returning to The Grange just to find out if Jane is the other sister is residence. He only has Bungley’s (sorry I’ve lodged that typo permanently into your mind, Cass) best interests in mind of course (yeah, right!). The bathing scene was very wel received here too.
I spotted the Wentworth reference too. A husband for Mary or Kitty, or a suitor for Jane? Well, I guess all will be revealed in the fullness of time. I’m wondering what Elizabeth is going to think, and feel, when she meets her ‘rival’.

Very telling that Jane seems happy – after all the tragedy. Mayhap she is the one who likes the vicar, or mayhap even with the fall of her sister and death of her mother she subconsciously realizes things are more peaceful. Those two are the definition of drama after all.
