  1. Well well well … do I sense a possible future attachment between this mysterious lady and Mr. Bennet? That would be wonderful!
Omg I thought for a moment that it was Jane who didn’t wish for Bingley to still harbour feelings for her! But another reading and I was relieved! Oh Lizzie you are so busted, reading a book upside down… oh a certain clue to that she is falling for Darcy more than she is allowing! I can’t wait to see where this line of plot will take this lovely story!

I spotted that, too! A hint at a romance for Mr. Bennet, that would be lovely, Cass.

I see Darcy at last seems to be having the beginnings of an inkling that he’s NOT over Elizabeth by any means. Just the beginnings, though. Of course we all know he’s well in over his head! Judging by her behaviour, Elizabeth is starting down that road, too.

Hmm, so Kitty and Mary haven’t been allowed to write to their sisters until now. Seems a little harsh on their father’s part, but then this post-tragedy Mr. Bennet is a lot harsher than canon. And what could be in the packages from London that he doesn’t want his daughters to know about. Is he hiding something that has to do with the death of Mrs. Bennet? Curiosity abounds!

I possibly didn’t make it very clear: Mary and Kitty have been allowed to write, but like all other correspondence, it has had to be directed to the Gardiners’ address in London. Mr Bennet was wary of anyone having their new address for a while. He has lately realised there is no harm in the girls using it (bearing in mind they know it anyway!)

Ah, good old Darcy and Elizabeth! Both too blinded by what they say are the facts to see what is staring them both in the face!

      Curiosity rules for now! 😉

Yes, we do have a hint of a romance between Mr. Bennet and the fashionably dressed lady…and they have similar tastes in books if they were reaching for the same tome.

Lizzy (and Darcy) are in denial…it is not that they will develop feelings for each other; it is that the ones they have buried will resurface to torment them. They are both fooling no one but themselves. Georgiana fears for Darcy as does Jane for Elizabeth. Those closest see the true state of the matter.

    Thanks for this chapter.

Could Georgiana be planning some match-making of her own, I wonder?

  5. Hi Cass, just wanted to stop by and let you know how I am enjoying your wonderful story. I am very anxious for ODC to just stop their denial and admit to their feelings, but I guess that will take longer. Can you tell me how many chapters are there for the whole story? Thank you for sharing this story! Looking forward to Thursday. 🙂

Welcome, Daniela! Lovely to see you here and so happy to hear you are enjoying the story.

I can’t be exact on chapters yet because I’m still writing the end ones! Hope you keep reading along, all the same!

Thank you for another excellent chapter, Cass. I’m like others and wondering about the notice by Mr Bennet of this woman. How nice it would be for him to have some happiness with a good lady.

Dear Darcy and Lizzy! How misguided they are in their own feelings! I love Lizzy’s inner voice and glad to think Georgiana may be Darcy’s!

  7. Jan Steele says:

My first thought was that Elizabeth was certainly prickly in this chapter. But then I remembered that in this version she did not see his changed behavior at Pemberley when visiting with her aunt and uncle and he did not rescue Lydia and save her family from ruin. She knows he separated Bingley from Jane and she knows he did not warn anyone about Wickham’s depravity. So I guess the prickliness is understandable. Still, I can’t help but feel she needs to be brought down a peg or two from the high horse she is firmly seated upon. I think seeing Darcy courting Miss Latimer will do the trick quite nicely. (I’m evil that way.)

You have given us a mysterious lady (it would be quite agreeable to see Mr. Bennet in a happy marriage — hopefully he will be able to make a better choice than he did the first time) and the mystery of why Mr. Bennet so closely controls the packet of mail from London. (He also seems a little prickly — maybe it’s something in the water — good thing Jane seems to be immune.) Well, I just will have to wait patiently (is it Thursday yet?) until the next chapter is revealed. Until then, I’m going to imagine all sorts of Jane Eyre-ish type scenarios to explain Mr. Bennet’s actions with the mail.

Prickly is quite right, Jan! There’s a bit of a need for some clearing of the air in Derbyshire, I think!

      And lol re Jane Eyre-ish…

Looking forward to the first meeting Georgians & Elizabeth… I think they’ll become great friends straight off.
Also looking forward to the first meeting between Jane & Bingley… I’m not even going to guess on that one.

Mmmmmm! I’ve just read in one sitting and what jumps out to me are that the Bingley Twins are likely to find Elizabeth and they will remind her of her absent sisters – in a good way! I also have an interesting feeling that when they get to their school, they will meet up with Mary and Kitty!! I can’t comment upon anything else at the moment – so much going on!! I’m looking forward to reading on Thursday.

Finally I get a little break on a Friday night and get to read not one but 2 chapters! What a treat!

Oh, Lizzy. Really – you do not wish for him to still have feelings for you? Love that little voice, and that Jane is the one who calls her out with the upside-down book. Hahahahaha.

Georgiana seems to be more confident here, and I sense that she may prove to be a bit of a handful to her brother, especially once she meets Lizzy!

Lovely to see you back, Mel! You were missed! 😀

Yes, we have two sisters who may need to give their siblings a bit of a shove!
