I'm Cass, and I write the sort of stories I love to read - heart-warming, character driven and strong on location. I lean heavily towards the upbeat in both my reading and my writing.
As one of my favourite authors, Jane Austen, once wrote, ‘let other pens dwell on guilt and misery’.

Oh I almost feel sorry for Darcy and his not knowing how Elizabeth feels but then again she doesn’t know how she’s feeling either… yet 😉
I am beginning to think much more highly of our Mr. Wentworth as he’s at least doing something proactive about the eldest Miss Bennet while Bingley doesn’t do a thing.
And now this mysterious letter Mr. Bennet received I do wonder about it✉️… Cass you are sure you won’t cast some more light on the matter???

What has Mr. Bennet been doing in the bookshop while all of us are pondering over Jane, Lizzy and their admirers! Now with Elizabeth telling Wentworth that he should come by for tea and him letting drop about his brother’s diasppointment…oh what a tangled web you are weaving! Love it!
As for your being away and busy during Christmas and New Year’s, have a wonderful time and safe journeys. However, thank you for thinking of our sensibilities and trying not to leave a cliffhanger!

Ah, so it is that Wentworth family! Good to know. Jane could do worse but we’ll see what you have in mind. Darcy must see Elizabeth is warmer towards him. Thank you for the warning about your posts and for this chapter.

If you’ve got the thing finished, why don’t you just post some extra chapters in the weeks leading up to Christmas, and post some extra chapters in the weeks after New Year’s?
That way you’ll be even when you resume two weeks after New Year’s.

I prefer to think of it as a story rather than a ‘thing’, Jim! LOL
If I had finished the story there would, of course, be no break required, but I haven’t. All the completed chapters were posted a while ago, so everything is now being written as I go.

Delightful chapter, Lizzy really is in a quandary regarding her feelings. Darcy is falling all over again, what I wonder what will he do about Miss Latimer, what will become of the regard between Mr. Wentworth and Jane and why mention his brother? Is it that will will be hearing from the other Mr. Wentworth very soon? How will Mr. Bingley behave and will the unmarried Mr. Wentworth fall for Miss Elizabeth? Too many questions to be answered and I am looking forward to your next chapters so much. Don’t worry about the Christmas and New Years break, we all have our holidays worked out to visit and so on, no worries, I know I will have enough to keep busy but will look forward to the new chapter when things return to normal 🙂

The suspense deepens. I have my thoughts on the personally delivered letter and the impact it had on Mr. Bennet but shall keep them to myself for now!
Alice is a jewel. She sees what our dear couple cannot! I liked her thoughts!
I like Wentworth but still not sure if I want him to be with Jane or not. I do want him happy though. I’m hoping we get to hear about Frederick and Anne getting together too.

I’m not sure we’ll be getting as far as Anne and Wentworth as that was, I think, in 1814 and we’re in 1813 and this story only spans a month or so. 😀

I read the chapter earlier today but couldn’t comment as I was off to a staff Christmas dinner, already! Anyway… another delightful and intriguing chapter! I am falling in love with Mr Darcy all over again 😍. I especially liked that he could not contain the words of admiration and they just came out.
Regarding Jane, on the one hand Mr Wentworth seems to be a sensitive kind of soul, and handsome too, which a young man ought to be if he possibly can… I wonder why he thinks he is not good enough for Jane. On the other hand, Bungley is being too slow about wooing Jane. Where is his passion, his determination? I still think both suitors need to be more proactive to win Jane’s affections.
I will be away on holidays from 13th to the 24th of December. Thank you for warning us about the posts. I might actually read a few chapters in one go if I cannot access the Internet or if I am too busy during the holiday season.

Again, I loved this chapter! Thank you so much for adding these cute, and sometimes awkward, interactions between ODC! I really appreciate them. As I said before, Darcy is a goner and Lizzy is well on her way! I just wish something more could happen before Miss Latimer arrives. I wish Darcy stopped thinking about her as his future wife!! Argh! He must start thinking about her as an obstacle to be removed as soon as possible.
I like Alice and her perception. And now we know Wentworth is brother to Frederick. How interesting!
Looking forward to more and don’t worry about not posting during the holidays. I understand completely.

Hmmm. Mr. Bennet turning red could either signify that he was angry or he was embarrassed. Since the reddening of his skin did not appear to be accompanied by an identifying scowl or grimace or severe frown or growl, I’m leaning toward embarrassment for the cause. However, it could also be caused by him having a very rare male hot flash. 🙂
I’m liking Reverend Wentworth more and more. Bungley has really given no indication that he is interested in pursuing Jane and I think Jane should be very cautious about trusting his constancy or determination if he ever decides what he wants for his future. Wentworth, on the other hand, is a man with a plan and he sees Jane’s worth as more than just a beautiful face.
I really got quite a lot of enjoyment from reading that Darcy’s horse took him to the Grange. Yes, Darcy, believe that if it brings you comfort!

Aaaah, another lovely chapter. I can’t help but admire the Reverend Mr. Wentworth, and of course we know the source of his brother’s pain and feel quite in sympathy with him.
Yet it’s the chary man who will lose the prize…and Jane, lovely and kindly-hearted as she is, is definitely a prize worth winning. Bungley had his chance, and Wentworth seems to be a man of far more resolve. I like him.
I am quite looking forward to the arrival of Miss Latimer. I am anticipating Elizabeth meeting her and, of course, seeing her for who she truly is even if Darcy does not. (Or does not care at this point.) But with Elizabeth not only back in his life but on the very grounds of Pemberley, he shall have quite the conundrum!
Thank you for the advance warning of your travels over Christmastide. Is there any significance to your return on Twelfth Night? 😉

When it comes to horses, I’ve been told that they can pick up on subconscious actions of their riders. Darcy’s certainly did! I loved Alice’s comment to herself and totally agree with “As plain as the nose on my face, if you ask me!”
Watch out Bungley! It looks as though the good Reverend is taking after his brother as a man of action. As our Aussie relatives would say “Good on yer!”
A mysterious letter leads Mr. B. off to Lambton. Is it something to do with the equally mysterious lady from the bookshop or is something else afoot?
So, six more chapters before the Christmas and New Year break, if I’m looking at my calendar right? Plenty of time to work up to some sort of cliffie, then, even if it’s not a major one. I might just have to go back and re-read everything posted so far during that time.

So Mr. Bennet begins to suspect his favourite of a change of heart, perhaps? 😀 And that letter?! Is it the mystery woman? When will we find out (da-dum… da-dum… – that’s supposed to be suspenseful music there).
Oh Darcy. Your horse knows what your heart desires. I’ve heard pets (that’s what I will call his horse) can be very attuned to their parent’s feelings.
And Alice! Priceless woman, to say out loud and so bluntly what everyone else probably sees (even Jane does, to an extent!)! I love her. I’m imagining Mrs. Patmore as her, really.
Speaking of new characters looking like actors we are familiar with… I wonder what Miss Latimer looks like. I know Darcy never dwells on her appearance; that’s how we know just how she kind of fades into the background of duty for him. I do wonder – is she a blonde? Or a brunette as well? 😀

Good point re Miss Latimer, Mel. Although I know her role fully, I still have her as fairly faceless at the moment and hadn’t thought much about what she looked like other than she is blonde. I felt Darcy would choose someone as unlike Elizabeth as possible in colouring!
