I'm Cass, and I write the sort of stories I love to read - heart-warming, character driven and strong on location. I lean heavily towards the upbeat in both my reading and my writing.

Well well well I am surprised yet again Cass that neither gentleman is preferred by Jane herself! This poses a problem I would say?!
What?! Why does the Latimers have to come early?! Darcy needs more time with Elizabeth and WITHOUT distractions from other quarters!
And then to leave us with the cliff hanger was just plain mean 😝🙄 can’t wait for more

I think the Latimers need to get there early. It’s time things were shaken up a bit, I think!

Darcy, Darcy, I am not happy with you! You should have taken the opportunity to see Elizabeth again! Instead you are dwelling on Miss Latimer as the future mistress of Pemberley! Argh! Something must happen, dear author! Soon! Maybe the Colonel and Georgiana might help him a little. I sincerely hope this miss Latimer is a snob and obnoxious person! That will help a lot!
I am sure this lurking person is Wickham. And I can see sth dangerous will happen soon? What about Mr Bennet’s trip? Very intriguing! Can’t wait for more!

Oh, another cliffy! But this one is ominous! Who would dare threaten our dear girl?
I love the twins exuberance and yet another plan in their matchmaking scheme! Won’t it be delightully awkward to have a picnic with Darcy, Elizabeth and Miss Latimer in attendance!! I can scarcely wait! And Colonel Fitzwilliam is sure to add to the frivolity!
Alice is still my favorite! For a servant, she definitely has everyone hesitant to cross her!

Miss L isn’t going to be there in time for the picnic, sadly. I’m beginning to regret that, but then I suspect most of you would be disappointed if she didn’t get a pie in the face from someone. Poor woman.
I’m pretty fond of Alice. She’s a no messing tough Derbyshire woman! 😀

Wonderful story! I just want to take all four (Darcy, Elizabeth, Jane, bingley) and shake them till their teeth rattle!
I know a HEA will come eventually but these trip there is nerve racking!!!

Alice is such a dear! She might be a servant, but she really has Jane’s well being at heart and I love seeing her mothering Jane and worrying about her health. So, Miss Latimer won’t be there in time for the picnic, but will she be in time for the ball? I’m glad the Latimers will be arriving early — I think the overlapping time with the twins will be just the thing to shake Darcy from his duty-bound path for future domestic complacency (boredom, repressed desires, regrets — you name it — any future without Elizabeth looks bleak). Top off the twins’ matchmaking merriment with a little Colonel spice and I think life at Pemberley is going to be quite interesting. *rubs hands together with glee*

I can’t wait for the Colonel to arrive either. He might just be the man to talk to Darcy straight. He might like Jane very much or even Miss Latimer. I am hoping that Miss Latimer is really sweet but has no feelings fir Darcy and that she marries the Colonel. He needs to marry well. Darcy does not not need sweet, he needs spice like Lizzy. I am getting worried about Elizabeth’s safety outdoors.

Oh dear ‘the snake in the grass’ is up to no good! I am wondering now if Mr. Bennet received something other than an invite…is he being lured away on purpose or blackmailed? Maybe I am making this darker than it should be. So Elizabeth looks forward to meeting Darcy each day and is disappointed when she doesn’t and can’t understand why? Then Jane isn’t in a hurry to see Wentworth either! Now the Colonel is arriving as well as Miss Latimer and her family. The web is tangling very fast. How can I forget that Miss Bingley has written to Bingley and we wonder what she is hoping for? Looking forward to Thursday!

I can just imagine Caroline showing up without an invitation and claiming either the letter telling her NOT to come “got lost in the mail” or that she was sure Bingley was going to say, “OK, come and join us.” that she packed and got into her coach.
So now we know that Jane’s heart does not lean towards Wentworth but how sad for Bingley that the twins took “his” flowers and presented them to Jane as their offering.
I, too, wonder about what “business” Mr. Bennet has in Buxton…where does that lovely widow live?
Do not go out alone, Jane or Elizabeth!!! I am sure it is Wickham and what he would have in mind one can only speculate about. He know Bennet has no money so kidnapping for ransom is OUT. But does he suspect Darcy’s interest in Miss Elizabeth? The arrival of other guests would throw that opinion into a tailspin. Unless the story goes that Darcy shows cooled attentions to Miss Latimer. Are the twins aware that they need to NOT wander out alone?
Anxiously awaiting the next chapter. Your book was the topic of discussion among JAFF friends in NYC yesterday. Everyone is loving the story at this point!

Alice is indeed a gem. She seems to give the ladies a care that might have been missing materially.
So, the twins are happy about Elizabeth having a picnic with them… they are after all for the match-up of Bingley & Elizabeth — boy are they way off. Will Wentworth get an invitation as well?
I’m quite looking forward to the Colonel coming into the mix. I hope he’s smitten with Miss Latimer at first glance and doesn’t give Darcy a second thought about it.
Darcy doesn’t have a chance with his knuckleheaded duty bound thoughts! You would think after a year of being off mending his heart he would be Darcy bound instead of duty bound.
I’m thinking this time it is Darcy breaking twigs because he just cannot stay away. Well, we will see.

I still think that Wickham is the most likely source for the “ghost” that’s been “haunting” Pemerberley and its environs. We shall see….

Why is my life so busy? It’s taken until today to catch up with this week’s posts!! By the way, for those who don’t know, I travel around Yorkshire quite a bit during the course of my work and I drove through the town of Bingley (yes, really!) on the day this chapter was posted. I really wished I’d had a marker pen to graffiti the road sign that says “Welcome to Bingley” and change it to “Welcome to Bungley”!
More mysteries abound – a reappearance of “The Ghost” and “The Snake in the Grass” – are they the same? Are they Wickham or connected with him or something/someone else? You keep making me ask questions, Cass. I love that the Latimers and the Bungley twins are going to meet. Lots of opportunities for those two bundles of fun to interfere with Darcy’s plans. Hopefully, they’ll throw the good Colonel into the mix, too.
I’m off to read Thursday’s chapter shortly.
