  1. Carole in Canada says:

Oh what a delightful picnic, but I wasn’t expecting Mr. Bennet to be the one receiving an express! This is certainly getting very intriguing! The Colonel is just as mischievous as the twins! It’s too bad Bingley is being so cautious about Jane but who can blame him! Darcy was just stepping up too! You did warn us about a possible cliffhanger…

With all the excitement of the holidays and family coming home, I will be very distracted for the week! Looking forward to Jan. 6th! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Oh, now that is a cliff hanger…an express – with all the questions about Mr. Bennet’s “business” taking him away from the Grange on previous occasions. But Elizabeth and Darcy are coming so much closer to understanding where they each stand in the other’s affections. I am glad that the Bennets will now know of the floral tribute to Mrs. Bennet and Lydia. Despite their faults, they were family and we love our family members. Bingley – go on – ask her.

Thank you for this chapter. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year to all.

I know, Sheila, I agree. They are/were still all family and despite the irritations amongst individuals at times, as with any family, they are strong bonds there too.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year to all, too! Look forward to seeing everyone in January!

Sheila, thank you so much for continuing to read along and comment. It’s making it all so much more fun than I ever imagined! ❀

Oh Cass! You did warn us that there would be a cliffy but there are far too many to count! Bingley – will he or won’t he secure a dance with Jane? Will Darcy attend the ball – and will he dance with Elizabeth? A mysterious express – I shall go all distracted! πŸ™‚
But the twins were delightful and their sudden burst of inspiration was hilarious! And I’m very pleased with Darcy for making his semi-declaration.Thank you for another fabulous chapter!
I wish you and your family the Merriest Christmas and everything good in the New Year! Cheers!

Teasing, teasing author. Cilffy indeed! Meanwhile, I sure had a good chuckle over the matchmakers. They are so cute. And the colonel enjoying every minute of it. Why do I think that the “other woman” will be on the scene before Darcy can make his feelings known to Lizzy. And what has come for Mr. B that is urgent? Waiting. Oh … Happy Holidays! Jen Red

  9. Goodness, I wonder what news the express contains! Leaving us with a bit of a cliffhanger, and we shall have to wait through all of Christmastide to Epiphany before we discover its contents . . . and Elizabeth’s response to Darcy’s declaration! You are as mischievous as the twins, Ms. Grafton!!

I wish you a safe journey, a joyous Christmastide (all twelve days!!), and a healthy, productive, and blessed New Year!!

    With warmest holy-day wishes,

Just finished Chapters 29 and 30. I love the way Darcy and Elizabeth are beginning to connect, but am worried for Jane and Bingley. I am also concerned about what the express will contain and who it is from. I feel the presence of Wickham lurking and waiting to cause trouble. I also do not feel that Miss Lattimer is going to be quietly accepting of Darcy’s change of heart. I do not know how I will wait for two whole weeks until the next post!!! I am anxious to see where the story will go!

  11. OMG!!!! I think we were close to a proposal weren’t we Cass?! Those lines can’t be used in any other circumstances! Omg Darcy was about to speak his heart!!
I do wonder what has happened at the Grange or worse yet Meryton or London!?

Merry Christmas πŸŽ„ Cass and a very happy new year 🍸

LOL, Sophia! You are so funny!

No, no way would Darcy propose right now, even if not interrupted. Remember he has to first disentangle himself from the Latimers?

Also, I doubt he’d attempt it in a public setting. He hasn’t yet worked out Elizabeth’s feelings towards him, so he’s doing what the Colonel advised, trying to make it clearer to her that he likes her – a LOT! πŸ˜‰

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year to you too! Hope you have a fabulous holiday and see you in January!

Thank you for all your continued support and fun comments! ❀

Am just loving this story! The twins are such a gale-force wind at times! I, too, think I will go distracted before the next juicy bit is revealed. How will I ever manage to wait until the 6th? Are you considering turning this into an actual book eventually? I hope so.

Great indoor picnic. So much going on with the twins’ scheming, the Colonel’s observations, Mr. Bennet with Mrs. Annesley, Bingley with Jane, and of course Darcy showing Lizzy his feelings…bit by bit. I really wonder what Mr. Bennet has going on. I look forward to the new chapters in the new year.

    Christmas greetings to you!

The twins are charming creatures. I can see why Caroline despises them, they are much like Elizabeth would be at their age.
There’s nothing like a picnic to get things headed in the right direction, well, and the Colonel.
So many sprouting scenarios, I do hope Darcy gets an inkling into what’s going on with Mr. Bennett and the mysterious letter sender.
    Happy New Year!

What a lovely lengthy chapter! Thank you for this present πŸ™‚ Happy holidays and hope you had a great break!

I love a flustered Darcy; and now it seems I also love a flustered Lizzy. πŸ˜€ A good-humored Colonel is always a nice addition to the mix, and having a very honest Jane… I wonder if we will get any conversations between Bingley and our dear girl?

What was Lizzy about to say?? Darcy, you are slowly getting better… more practice please, our dear author πŸ˜‰

And who sent that express!? I wonder what news it brings!

Slightly belated Happy New Year to everyone! Hope the Christmas and New Year period were all that you wanted and needed them to be.

I did actually read this chapter a while ago, meaning to come back and comment a lot earlier than I am doing. Ooops! Oh my, that was definitely a cliffhanger, Cass. What a time for an Express rider to turn up. Who knows what might have happened between Darcy and Elizabeth? I wonder what that mysterious Express is about. Anything to do with Mr. Bennet’s mysterious business?

At least we know for sure now that it WAS the Colonel who laid the flowers in Meryton, acting on Darcy’s instruction. Can’t wait to see how Elizabeth will thank him! The twins’ michievous carryings on are such fun. Now they’re trying to match Bungley up with Georgiana and the Colonel’s “help” is just adding to their conspiracies.

    Can’t wait for tomorrow!

The Colonel is a bit of a loose canon right now! Perhaps HE needs to get caught up an affair of the heart! πŸ˜‰
