Great chapter, Cassandra. As you see, I was eagerly awaiting this post and it didn’t disappoint. I also wanted to say that I have recently discovered your Lizzy Bennett’s diary and I read it in the holiday season. I have left a comment there for you. Loved it!
How intriguing this business of Mr Bennett!
    Tuesday cannot come soon enough…

What a way to start the year!

My heart bleeds for Darcy. 😟 And maybe just a little for Lizzy. But Darcy mostly – he’s been in that situation of despair for far longer. 😊

I wonder what Mr. Bennet has to do? To be completely honest though, I don’t mind him taking his time fixing things hahaha.

Tuesday is too far… maybe you could give us a bonus chapter on Monday? πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜šπŸ˜‹

Oh dear! Darcy has (once again) misinterpreted Elizabeth’s reaction — this time to having to stay at Pemberley. She will try to avoid Miss Latimer and he will think she is avoiding him. Can we lock the two of them in the butler’s pantry until they finally have an honest, uninterrupted conversation? Or maybe Viola has captured a picture of Elizabeth looking at Darcy with longing. The poor guy needs something to give him hope.

Don’t worry, Jan. They can’t be in the same house for long before they will clear this little misunderstanding up! πŸ˜€

  6. Well that was mysterious! I do wonder what the letter was about? And why do I feel like I know this poacher? It’s getting very mysterious!
And how will Darcy and Elizabeth manage once the Latimers arrive?! Omg this plot makes a lot of twists and keep us poor readers sitting on the edge of our seats in anticipation of what is to come next!

All these plot strands are linked, I can promise you!

Wait a minute, this boarders on the verge of a cliffie! Where is Bennet off to? Did he tell all to Darcy? Will Darcy and Elizabeth get a chance to talk before the Latimers come? Will he even tell Lizzy how he feels when he has to settle things with Latimer about his daughte? What about the “poacher?” Twill be waiting. Jen Red

No, Jen, he didn’t tell Darcy anything about where he has gone or why. Darcy and Elizabeth have a couple of days before the Latimers arrive. I’m sure they will have a few ‘moments’! πŸ˜‰

So no confidences are shared between the men.
Well, at least D&E will have a couple of days.
        Let the wooing begin.

  8. Oh my God, Cass! Poor Elizabeth! and poor Darcy! More misunderstanding! Please, tell me this one will be clear soon, very soon, like next chapter? πŸ˜‰ I want them to be aware of each other’s feelings soon! And this Miss Latimer is giving on my nerves and I haven’t even met her! lol. I am so curious to read more! Tuesday is just too far away right now! Thank you for the update! πŸ™‚

Don’t be too stressed on their behalf, Daniela! This is soon going to be overcome. They are much further along than when they were initialling misinterpreting each other! πŸ˜€

      LOL re Miss L!

Happy New Year and welcome back! I was thrilled to read this but still we have so many unanswered questions and issues! Please may the misunderstanding of Elizabeth saying ‘No, oh no’ about staying at Pemberley be resolved very very soon…like in the next chapter! Darcy has no idea that Elizabeth knows about Miss Latimer! What is this urgent issue that has Mr. Bennet leaving? I’m convinced Wickham has something to do with it!!! Or has Caroline Bingley something to do with it? I wouldn’t put it past her! See the speculation you are creating!

    Looking forward to next week!

I am not even going to attempt to guess what is demanding Mr. Bennet’s attention away from home and for days. Darcy thinks he knows that her feelings have changed? Come on, man, give her a iota of hope. Are the servants staying at the Grange? I would hate to think that Wickham discovers their absence and moves in. Thank you for this chapter – looking forward to more.

Good heavens, Sheila! Wickham squatting at The Grange! Don’t go giving me ideas! lol

Don’t worry about Darcy; he may be proceeding with great caution, but he’s not going to give up on Elizabeth easily!

I guess her misunderstanding of his feelings is going to leave us all in misery? Thanks…please don’t make it too painful.

    • Cass says:

LOL, Fran! No, not at all! It’s only a small slip, Lizzy’s gut reaction was completely understandable (I believe) bearing in mind her thought process just before.

Reread the chapter, because I suddenly have a half hour to myself today!

Yes, Lizzy, going to Gracechurch would be painful because you would be too far from Derbyshire.

Completely missed Bingley and Jane walking together and talking in earnest during my first reading. Oooh I do hope she is being her new, frank self.

    Tuesday is too far away!

Finally caught up, but the fun of being able to read a number of chapters in a row was short-lived because of it! I love the cliffie. I love the way you have D&E knowing each other’s hearts but darned Miss Latimer in the way, like some sort of ghost. Looking forward to discovering yet another skeleton in the closet (my guess, anyhow!)

An excellent installment, Cass! Lizzy’s words will hurt Darcy and she will be distraught trying to remain unaffected by watching Darcy with Miss Lattimer. I know we will have a happy ending, but I feel tears coming! I look forward to each new chapter!

  15. Anji says:

I buess we’re all waiting with bated breath to find out what this mysterious “business” is all about. Thanks goodness it’s not Mary and/or Kitty but for it to make Mr. Bennet go pale and so obviously distracted, it must be something major. But is it something we don’t know about yet?

And as for Darcy, he’s dug himself into such a hole with the Latimers, hasn’t he? How tall a ladder will he need to get out of it? At least Elizabeth’s blinkers are almost completely off now, even though she now seems to be the one opening her mouth and putting a dainty foot in it.

So we’re going to have quite a house party at Pemberley now. Darcy, Georgiana, Olivia, Viola, Bungley, Jane, Elizabeth, the Latimers – have I missed anyone? What will Rev. Wentworth think of Jane being under the same roof as Bungley? Does he know about Jane’s history with Bungley at all?

Off now to see what’s happening in the next chapter!
