I'm Cass, and I write the sort of stories I love to read - heart-warming, character driven and strong on location. I lean heavily towards the upbeat in both my reading and my writing.

Wickham! That dastardly dude! Such a thorn in everyone’s side.
Mr Bennett dispatch mrs Bennett? Never! It would take too much energy !
I’ll not even comment on mr latimer as I’ll not give him that much consequence .
Elizabeth missed a great chance to drop a kiss in his palm .
So much to take in and comment on in just this small chapter!

Holy Austen Cass!!! No not again!! Drama, drama and more drama! I do wonder what Wickham thinks he knows? And poor Elizabeth, the picture you presented of her sitting in Darcy’s study, white as a sheet was so very strong! Cass seriously?! Again you left us to think the worst and to think of countless of possibilities now that Latimer is in Darcy’s study! Come on 48 hours is a long time right now!!! 😱😱😱😱
I do hope the twins have plans to annoy the elder Latimer to be honest, he deserves it and more! And can one hope that there is a girl for Colonel Fitzwilliam in this story too?

I think we can rely on the twins to provide a little distraction from all the drama! Hmm, Colonel F. He’s one of my favourites, so I’m very picky when it comes to finding him a wife!

Thanks goodness Thursday is only two days away! Wow! Lots happened in this one. So GW is blackmailing Bennet. Hmm…. Then the part “Come alone, or else your daughter will be at risk.” Now what can that mean? Is it really Lizzy? Is there any chance Lydia could still be alive??? Yikes! You sure have left us with a mystery and then of course Darcy has to deal with Latimer. UGH! Not to mention the twins are up to no good. I hope they don’t get in trouble. Oh … I loved the tender unspoken moments between Darcy and Lizzy. Sighs! Wonderful chapter! Jen Red

I’m praying for Thursday, Cass! Not only will Mr. Bennet be meeting Wickham (maybe), but I hope to read that Latimer will be sent packing. I hope I can find enough things to do between now and your next installment.

I am starting to believe that Lydia did not die in the fire. After all a burnt body is very difficult to place an identity on. Who could it be? Mrs. Young? A servant girl? But if it is not Lydia then where has she been all this time? He didn’t sell her off to a brothel…no you wouldn’t write that. How could he support the two of them, though? You have my mind going off in all kinds of directions.
Yes, both Lizzy and Darcy are accepting hints that there is a real interest of the part of the other party. But Bingley…you didn’t really allow those twins out-of-doors after their scampering about last night, did you? I am not sure if they are still looking for their ghost or if they are planning some type of compromising situation for Elizabeth and Darcy – to bring them together.
And Latimer – methinks he will be the Big Bad Wolf: huffing and puffing and trying to blow Darcy off his feet if he hears what we thinks he is going to hear! Where is Mrs. Latimer? She sounded like she has opinions all her own and will face down her husband if he gets out of hand and it certainly seems as if he will do just that.
Glad Jane was on board with reading the letter.

Bingley is a little naive I’m afraid, and not only where his sisters are concerned.
I think we need Mrs Latimer to reel her husband in – Big Bad Wolf indeed!

I have faith in Darcy that he won’t be intimidated by latimer. I am glad Lizzie went to him for help instead of trying to resolve things on her own. But then I am thinking in modern times. Lol. I loved all the subtle looks and touches. Thanks

I agree re modern thinking, Fran! I am not sure a Regency young lady would have done what Lizzy did. I know she is not shy and can stand up for herself, but it was a bit daring all the same!
However, it was worth the liberty taking so they could have a tender moment! ❤

You teasing woman! Leaving us to wait until Thursday to be a fly on the wall when Darcy tells Latimer that his interest in his daughter is non-existent. Thank you goodness the letter is locked away. For a while there, I thought it was still on his desk and Latimer would see it!
However, thank you for that ‘touching’ scene between Darcy and Elizabeth. Neither can help themselves even with an audience. As for which daughter, I almost was expecting Jane to comment on that line when she read the letter. Yes, I too have this niggling feeling that it is regarding Lydia but then again Wickham may have someone spying on them and he is reporting back the encounters Darcy has been having with Elizabeth. I don’t think Mr. Bennet hurried Mrs. Bennet on her way, I think he was serving penance for his indolent ways regarding his wife and daughters.
I’m with the Colonel when it comes to those twins plotting something against Latimer. The man needs to be humbled, but I would hate for it to be at the expense of Mrs. Latimer and her reserved daughter.
So until Thursday, we will all ponder and speculate what you have in store for us and our favourite characters! Thank you!

I can’t wait for the duel of words between Darcy and Latimer. I think, I hope, it will be rather heated.
I loved the tender looks between DOC. I want Darcy to be done with Latimer and go declare his love for Lizzy.
I have hoped too that somehow Lydia might have survived, but that might be hoping too much. I wonder if Mary and Kitty will make an appearance at all in this story.
Still enjoying the story very much.

I wanted to be clever and use the acronym for Our Dear Couple, but I did it wrong.. Maybe they can be our Dear Old Characters.. After all, they are over two hundred years old…;)

I loved the touching scene between Darcy and Elizabeth. I expect Lattimer’s suspicions to be raised and have no doubt he will snoop until he has something to hold over Darcy’s head and force the marriage between Darcy and his daughter. I can only hope that Darcy will have the wits to keep his cool with Lattimer as well as defeat both Lattimer and Wickham in their nefarious plans. I can hardly wait for Thursday and the discussion between Darcy and Lattimer! Thanks again for that touch of sweet romance!

Aaah, such a sweet scene between Elizabeth and Darcy, especially considering the presence of the colonel in the room!
But Latimer is going to be trouble. And I wonder about his daughter. Is her listlessness because she loves another yet her father is pushing her upon Darcy? Mrs. L seems like a kind and responsible person, and a smart one, too. I hope that she will be able to talk some sense into her blustery husband, especially after Darcy makes his position clear.
If Latimer allows Darcy to make his point, that is….
I really hate that man…nearly as much as I despise Wickham. I can’t wait until Thursday!!

Oh, that Latimer and his snarky remarks! I really want someone to take the wind out of his sails, the starch from his cravat, the puff from his souffle, and the stuffing out of his pompous self. I hope Darcy is up to the task. If not, I’m willing to wager that the twins will be quite happy to help with the task. I’m absolutely looking forward to whatever mischief those two have planned, especially if it somehow involves Mr. Latimer.
I’m starting to join with those wondering if the great mystery involving Mr. Bennet has something to do with Lydia. Oh, I just don’t know! I’ll simply have to wait (I’ll pretend to do it patiently) until all is revealed. In the meantime, I think I’ll reread those tender moments between Darcy and Elizabeth and sigh uncontrollably.

I still can’t get it out of my head that the daughter Wickham mentioned might be Lydia. I will have to wait and see.

The engaging chapters just keep coming. I love the combination of D and L sweetness with the mystery of what’s going on with Wickham. Elizabeth just seems to be the too obvious answer to which daughter is in danger. I’m throwing my vote in on suspecting that Lydia is still alive, and Bennet knows it.
Looking forward to the long awaited confrontation between Darcy and Latimer. I hope the Colonel will be stationed nearby to distract Latimer after this conversation takes place. Will Mrs. Latimer come to the rescue…and maybe help Miss Latimer stand up for herself?

Love the twists in this chapter…Mr. B. is a kind, albeit indolent, man. No one could seriously suspect him of foul play in his wife’s death….Right? But it makes me wonder who the lady in the bookstore was…back in chapter 14. Now Mr. B. is accused of ‘something’ salacious…..love a mystery.

Oh, which daughter is it? I thought at first it was Elizabeth, seeing as she was a favourite of Wickham’s and he knw she was a favourite of her father’s. Then I considered Jane but couldn’t see any reason for that, same as for Kitty and Mary. But is Lydia still alive? Teasing, teasing Cass!
Loved the little, but possibly not-so-subtle, exchange where Darcy touches Elizabeth’s cheek and she covers his hand with hers. Could have gone on a lot longer if the Colonel hadn’t interrupted.
Off to comment on the next chapter now, which I read a couple of days ago, so I know what happens there already. Those twins! I knew they were up to no good when they were seen sneaking off earlier.
