I'm Cass, and I write the sort of stories I love to read - heart-warming, character driven and strong on location. I lean heavily towards the upbeat in both my reading and my writing.

That was …. quite good but seriously Cass why oh why didnt he ask for a moment alone?! Where is the fireworks and the butterflies or sigh or gasp because of a kiss on a hand or fingers?! I know it’s only been two weeks for them but oh my god we are all sitting on edges of our seats! 😱😳💖
Do I need to point out how much I want to beat the living daylights out of Latimer? He is the most arrogant and self-serving man though the daughter improves upon closer acquaintance! I do wonder about the colonel though, is it just me or did Miss Latimer just put him into a little compromising situation?! Brilliant 😂👍🏻 Good girl! And of course what of the Bingley, Wentworth and Jane love triangle?!
😂😂 I love the twins they are so lovely and such a comic relief to this very serious plot twist we are in at the moment- Brilliant idea Cass! 👏🏻👏🏻💖

Just what we needed to know before going into the weekend and having to wait another 4 FULL DAYS before we know whether Darcy missed a step in the dance or completely stopped!!!!!! I am sure he forgot all else after that comment!
As for Latimer putting not only Darcy but his daughter on the spot, he needs to be taken outside and….well I will leave it to your imagination! Now as for Miss Latimer, clever move on her part. I wonder if she knows how to play chess?! LOL!
Let’s just hope that Elizabeth and Darcy do not have a misunderstanding over the secret he is concealing…that is my biggest worry at the moment.

Oh that Mr. Latimer! He is like a dog with a bone when it comes to securing Mr. Darcy. Unless he realizes he is beating a dead horse when it comes to Darcy, his behavior will likely cause his daughter even more embarrassment before he ever deigns to get off his high horse. (That’s likely the extent of animal idioms I can conjure at the moment. Oops, not quite done yet.) I’m glad Elizabeth was able to take the bull by the horns and declared her “like” to Mr. Darcy. Is it too much to hope for a little hand holding out under the stars while they have a whale of a time watching the fireworks? (O.K. That’s really all I’ve got.) Thanks for another (mostly) sweet interlude!

Loved the last line. I hope we will see a more solid connection i the remaining chapters. As a writer I can appreciate the lovely way you painted the scene and the people with your words. It gave me a visual picture without being overwhelmingly descriptive. Looking forward to Tuesday!

I am developing quite an admiration for Miss Latimer. There is a reason for the bored and haughty mask she hides behind, and Elizabeth has been able to catch glimpses of the real woman behind the mask…and Eleanor is more of a kindred spirit than Elizabeth would have thought. Eleanor may even lend her support to Elizabeth against her father’s schemes; I think that she is stronger than we know and while her father exerts his power over her, I think that she’ll be able to turn the tables on him when it becomes necessary. We shall see….
I think that Elizabeth and Darcy will enjoy this dance much, much more than the previous one at Netherfield. And now she has left him in no doubt as to her positive opinion of him although she has not yet (and cannot in this public situation) revealed the depth of her feelings for him. Soon, perhaps?

Very nice but.. but…but…. I too want to know if Darcy missed a step after her comment. Loved the Colonel and chuckled when he let Darcy know that he never really asked Miss L to dance the first step. I guess the man will enjoy playing interference tonight. Can’t wait till they check out the tower.

Very happy with Elizabeth’s words, in the interest of clearing any doubts…so I think Miss Latimer is hunting here at her wishes and giving the Colonel a nudge. He did not seem to mind too much having to dance with her.
I cannot wait to know what is in the tower and what has become of Lydia.
It is all in so suspenseful! Well done, Cass.

Finally, Darcy has made a little headway towards a better relationship with Elizabeth,”I like you” she tells him, wow. No cliff hanger this time. YEAH!!!! Of course we have still to find out about Lydia and how she has been living. But that has been put aside due to the ball, I hope nothing disturbs this for our couple 🙂

I nearly did a massive cheat here, Julie, and at first I had Elizabeth say, ‘I like you; I like you very much. Just as you are.’ A total steal from Mark Darcy in BJD, of course! I love that line in the film, but it was too ‘modern’ for here. 😉

Read this chapter earlier today but didn’t have a chance to comment. Applauding both Miss Latimer…and the Colonel for playing along. And sighing now that Elizabeth has given Darcy a reply that she feels differently than over a year ago about him. Hoping there is a stolen moment or two alone for both to say more…but off to find and rescue Lydia, I am hoping. So young to have what happened to her occur. Most of us have parents or teachers or relatives or others who would look after us/teach us better…she had a father who didn’t care and gave no guidance and a mother who indulged her without any instruction as to morals or wick-ed men.

It seems Miss Latimer shares a particular talent with our Colonel, Sheila – the capacity to think on her feet!
I agree re Lydia – her parents showed her neglect on one hand and indulgence on the other – she has her faults, but not entirely of her own making.

My sincere apologies, Sheila. It was late going up, and is not the best quality either. I have been unwell for a couple of days and lost my writing time as a result. I didn’t want to miss a posting having just been away recently, but although it contains the elements I needed to include, it’s not where I wished it to be in terms of flow.

We do love your book and the chapters BUT I, for one, do not expect an ill author to take up her pen. I am sure others agree. Rest.

“Like” indeed? Well, I suppose she couldn’t say anything more explicit under the circumstances. I love the word “approbation”, don’t know why. I occasionally drop it into conversation and watch to see what sort of blank looks I get – naughty me!
It’s good to see Miss Latimer showing a bit of backbone now, she definitely has my approbation there! And that’s despite her father still trying to manoeuvre Darcy into closer proximity to her. Good for the Colonel to go along with her ruse. Off now to see what Darcy’s reaction is.
