Having a strong suspicion that Wickyhead would show up at Pemberley did not help in avoiding the angst of knowing him there. Can’t wait to see him hit and tied by Olivia and Viola; arrowed by Elinor; or whatever else you have planned for him! Can we finally move to happier times and more kissing (including Elinor and the Colonel)?

Oh no! I was hoping, once the archery practice was mentioned, that a stray arrow from one of the twins was going to maim Wickham. Since they are now resting up in the tree, I hope they have the wherewithal to pelt him with the apples in their possession (and I hope their aim is true enough to smite him in the same manner David smote Goliath). After this chapter, I think you have completely earned the title “Queen of the Cliffies.”
I hope you have a very happy Easter and that you enjoy your time in Merrie Olde England. Don’t worry about us or the state of dire trepidation in which you have left us — we’ll be fine, honestly we will be. 🙂

Cass, you wretched WOMAN! How can you do that to us, making us wait until next week to know how this comes out? How can I sit in church on Easter and fix my mind on the resurrection with a tiny morsel of my mind wondering what is coming next? Of course I am joking. But it is too bad of your to leave us hanging. It is an excellent twist in the plot, I wonder if Wickham has a spy somewhere?

The cliffhanger to beat all cliffhangers! Argh and double argh!!!!
And who is that speeding along towards the grange? Another mystery. Why is Wickham near Pemberley? If he has come to confront Mr. Bennet about the money he is in the wrong location. And the twins are sitting in a tree nearby…are they going to now get involved physically, jumping down on Wickham, as I am certain he will now grab Elizabeth thinking to hold her for ransom or some such?

Rest assured, Sheila, that whatever nefarious intent Wickham has, there are a few ladies ready to make it difficult for him. 😜

So old stink-pot is at Pemberley. Now what? I thought there were threats against her made by Wickham in the letter. Yikes. I hope that rider coming down the lane was someone who sighted GW at the manor house. And what a place to leave us. Any chance the girls will drop something on Wickham’s head from the tree??? Waiting patiently.

With Mr. Wickedness at Pemberley and all the men-folk sitting quietly at the Grange, I fear something terrible is afoot! But I won’t worry too much, I know you won’t let him hurt the ladies. Plus the twins are perched in the tree, just itching for some excitement.

Such a nice, long, wonderful chapter!! The ending with the appearance of Wickham is highly troubling, but at least the young ladies have a bow and arrow and some hefty croquet balls and mallets to use in self-defense…or even in offense!! Can’t you just imagine Georgiana going after him with a mallet? Or Eleanor taking aim with her archery equipage?
I also wonder if Eleanor’s low spirits when she first arrived at Pemberly were not because of a young man…and perhaps that young man was Wickham? It’s a bit of a stretch, but in a way, it would indeed make sense.
And Darcy has attained Mr. Bennet’s consent! Yay!! 😀
I am waiting with bated breath for next week’s chapter. Take care during your travels, and I hope that your father is well. (I think I remember that his health is the reason for your travels.)

Last time it was a satisfied “Aaahhh!”
This time it’s “Aaaaargh!” What a sneaky person (using that term extremely loosely) that Wickham is. He’s probably been watching Pemberley, seen the gentlemen leave and head off to The Grange. Now he’s found the estate apparently unprotected, or has he? Who is the mysterious horseman closing in on The Grange? Was a watchman set to keep an eye out, just in case?
Please, please, let the twins get a slice of the action against him. Books, pencils and apples could make decent weapons when dropped, or better still thrown, from a height. Would their education so far have mentioned Sir Isaac Newton, I wonder? Oh, what am I taking about? They’ve already discovered how gravity works with the bucket in the stables that drenched Miss Latimer!
In the meantime, I hope my fingernails will stand the strain!

Yes, we’ve got a few impromptu ‘weapons’ in the vicinity. All we need now is for Wickham to vastly under-estimate his opponents! 😂

I was hoping all along that the girls would hit Wickham with their croquet balls and archery arrows. I wonder what the twins are going to do? They are directly above him in the tree. I hope they have something hard to throw on him!

Oh what a place to leave us! I was worried Wickham was going to show up at Pemberley rather than the Grange. Will the twins save the day or does Wickham know they are up there? Darcy will never forgive himself for leaving them unprotected. And who is rushing up to the Grange?

And as for this chapter, I knew it! – that darn Wickham would go after Elizabeth while the men were away! Oh, I can only hope the twins jump down on him and rescue our dear girl.

I’m sure you were chuckling to yourself when you finished this chapter and posted it…knowing how frantic we all would be to have to wait a whole week more…for that is how it is going to feel!!!! Just look what you have achieved…all of us hoping the twins, Eleanor and Georgiana would be pelting, whacking and slicing an arrow through Wickham!! We have become so violent…you go girls! I had a feeling too that he would show up at Pemberley!
Oh and did Eleanor find out about the locket and told Bingley…is that what he brought to the Grange? What a sly fellow he is becoming! At least one good thing has come out of this chapter…Mr. Darcy has Mr. Bennet’s approval!!!

I promise I wasn’t chuckling, Carole, but I was aware people wouldn’t be too happy. It was hard to decide what to do. Ending the chapter as the Colonel shoves his cousin in to speak to Mr Bennet was an option, but then I felt a longer chapter was better, with on,y one coming next week.
As for all the suggestions of violence against Wickham… Well, I know none of us would want to condone that in normal circumstances but I AM chuckling about all the suggestions, some of which I may already have had in mind! Watch this space!! 😱😜😱
