Yes (pumping fist into the air)!!!! He was sliced by the arrows and pelted with the apples! I was not expecting the dear dog to be his end though! Brilliant!!!!! Please save the dog! I’m sure he can be saved! What a touching scene of each of the men running to those they loved! Thank you! (Truly, I am not a blood thirsty person!)

I am loving that the girls stood up for each other and managed to control Wickham. He will no longer be able to spread stories to damage the ladies reputations. He has done too much damage already. I was very impressed with Miss Latimer and with Georgiana…with all the girls really. Now for some tender loving care from Darcy for the two ladies who mean the most to him in the whole world.
Can’t wait for more.

I wanted very much to make the women the ones who saved the situation (albeit the dog is male, lol!) Much as I love a heroic Darcy coming to the rescue, I just wanted them to win the day!

I love that Wickham, who spent his life using women and torturing women and destroying women’s reputations met his end by a group of women standing up for each other, standing up for themselves. Such an awesome story! And really… the dog. He’s gotta live the rest of his life eating steak. A long life, if you will.

Dear readers, I do believe our dear author meant Wickham when the Colonel said “animal”…note that the dog is eating the food stuff which pelted Wickham!!! But a little play on words is always clever, Cass. I love how Elizabeth flew into Darcy’s arms. And thank you for putting an end to Wickham. I hate how he gets to hang around and suck money out of Darcy in canon but JA did it to save the Bennet family’s reputation. Great climax moment here. Now we can settle in and read just who gets Miss Latimer or if the Colonel has that prize. And where can see send Latimer? He has not been a very nice fellow in this story. And the twins…imagine they will have to now learn that some secrets are not to be shared.

It was only a brief Darcy/Elizabeth moment in this one, Sheila, wasn’t it, but we can improve that in the next one! ❤
I just wanted Wickham shut up once and for all in the story, and I'm happy to now concentrate on tying up the loose ends, both Miss and Mr Latimer being two of them! 😉

Being the owner of a “hound” who’s had very recent health problems, I’m saying that you MUST save this one, Cass! I can deal with Wickham’s demise much easier than the dog’s. Poor animal has done nothing wrong, except try to get a bit of extra food. Whereas Wickham……well, where does one start? I can’t actually bring any redeeming features to mind at all and certainly won’t lose any sleep over it.
As to the rest, I love the twins using food as weapons – it reminds me a little of Neville Longbottom and Professor Sprout using plants as weapons during the battle for Hogwarts in The Deathly Hallows. When I commented on the previous chapter, I’d totally forgotten that Eleanor Latimer was armed with a real weapon, until others mentioned it. So glad she was able to bring her archery skills into play. I wonder if the Colonel noticed and/or appreciated those skills? And Darcy’s and Elizabeth’s embrace was a lovely, tender, all-too-brief moment.
Finally, and only because my brain picks up on irrelevant little details like this, at totally the wrong moments, with annoying frequency, Darcy’s going to catch it from his head gardener – “as Darcy galloped across the tailored lawns towards the back of the house”. Have you seen the mess horses’ hooves make when galloping? On a manicured lawn, it’ll be a complete disaster!

Go, ladies!!! Love the “food fight” from the twins, and Eleanor’s steadiness of both aim and character. And Georgiana stood up firmly to Wickham as well. Elizabeth was wonderful, as always! And then the gentlemen sweep in at the end. Love seeing Elizabeth run to Darcy!! 😀

No more Wickham! What a relief. Poor heroic hound, but no one can be accused of murdering a worthless libertine, though anything that happened would be in defense of loved ones and selves. I am sure Darcy did not think of manicured lawns when the women dearest to him and others under his protection were in danger. This should also set Mr Bennet free. Maybe Lydia, too. In canon, the one thing I did not like was that Wickham was left free unless the military sent him to war. Ah, jumping for joy. Wickham is dead.

Well, I have to say – a bit of out of context – I appreciate that you know England. What I read just now – people going down from Hertfordshire for a Stopp over in London on their way to Derbyshire – without reason… there are so many authors who should look at the map, think about traveling in those days. It took days to travel from London to Derbyshire. Even these always mentioned 3 days are optimistic. I remember an exhibition in Chatsworth about ‘The Bachelor (Duke, Prime Minister? The 6th Duke)’ the journey needing 6! Days – if the weather was good. Yes, I know I’m pedantic. But 15/16 Miles per Hour could not be achieved with a coach, that’s what you did with a Phaeton build for Highspeed. What I want to say – I appreciate your knowledge, your poise, your approach to the language. It’s really funny, because English is not my mother tongue. But one can make out mistakes so easily. Maybe because I’m a journalist I’m adept to orthography (alas not to punctuation). You are gifted and I want to thank you for sharing this with us!

Interestingly, with regard to the distance from Pemberley to Hertfordshire (not London), Jane Austen gets the Gardiners and Lizzy back home in a day and a half!

Another great chapter Cass. Never under estimate the power of a group of ladies again, especially with the twins and Miss Latimer and their ammunition!
I reckon the hound will be ok, after all it’s still eating! I think Wickham killed himself when he cracked his head on the tree and that suspect shotgun!

I finally got caught up on my reading, and am rewarded by the news of Wickham’s demise. My first reaction? Ding-dong, the Wick is dead! Which old Wick? The wicked Wick! Ding-dong, the wicked Wick is Dead! (OK, no more singing) I join the majority in celebration of the power of a group of clever females combining forces to defeat such a man who used and abused women and girls.

you have done wonders in this chapter! You have managed to allow all the ladies to play a part in fighting Wickham; establishing a stronger bond between them; have the scoundrel dead without having any of them traumatised for being the one to have killed him; and adding some small touches of romance (D&L; a little hint of Colonel and Miss Lattimer getting closer; …)
