I'm Cass, and I write the sort of stories I love to read - heart-warming, character driven and strong on location. I lean heavily towards the upbeat in both my reading and my writing.
As one of my favourite authors, Jane Austen, once wrote, ‘let other pens dwell on guilt and misery’.

Oh what another great chapter. I think you are doing very well at tying up the loose ends and I love the prospect of Miss Latimer and the colonel. Hmm…. I wonder what her father will say to that. *sigh* That was divine! Wickham will never cause anyone else trouble. Mr. Pickering hopefully will be able to work his healing magic on Hero who has proven to be quite the hero. Miss Latimer has fully awakened to the person she really is. The Bingley twins continue to delight (I’m going to hate to see them go to school). Mr. Latimer has declared he is going to take his ill temper away from the Pemberley House of Ill Repute (*snort*). And Darcy and Elizabeth indulged in more kissing. All’s right with the world and I’m exceedingly happy about it!

Thank you Cass for a lovely chapter – again. Latimer made me smile, and I do hope that he is going to find his daughter quite altered even when they leave Pemberley. And I wonder how a place can be preposterous?? 🙂 He should go to Rosings maybe to soothe his feathers… (that would be really funny). It was quite an emotional day for everyone, but everything seems to be falling into place. I am a bit disappointed that the good Colonel seems to like Eleanor but alas… what can I do?…

It will be interesting to see what Elizabeth will contrive to get Miss Latimer betrothed to the Colonel. Will she fall into the Colonel’s arms? Will the twins take it into their heads to do something. I know, Cass has something up her sleeve to get the job done. After all, why not a triple wedding?>?????

Lovely chapter. Wondering if Latimer will require that his daughter accompany him away from this house of ill-repute? I am glad the dog seems to be “savable”. And hoping to read of a wedding or more before we depart company. Thanks for sharing your talents.

Haha! Oh the ‘shades of Pemberley’ little does Lady Catherine know that Darcy is having the last laugh! Brilliant chapter…the villain has been dealt with quite well by our “Hero”, friendships have been solidified, love is in the air and Mr. Darcy is laughing in his study! What more could we ask for?
Well, I was thinking…since your trilogy, which is one of my all time favourites, was so beautifully written, maybe this could be the first book in a new one…then the Colonel, Eleanor and Jane Bingley could be the second, and the twins, Georgiana, Lydia, Mary and Katherine can have the final book!!! This way the story wont end any time soon! It’s just a lovely thought that it will sustain me until your next post!

I set out to write Darcy and Elizabeth’s story and that alone is already at 190,000 words, which is 90,000 more than I intended. I’m afraid I shall have to tie up other characters’ stories in the Epilogue (though there will be some other resolutions in the final chapter).

What a nice wrap up of the roller coaster ride we have been on. I am looking forward to what you have in store for Mrs. L ad the Col, poor Lydia and the twins. I hope poor Hero is going to be doing well and stay at Pemberley, I really have enjoyed this story, thank you 🙂

Yes, I agree with Carole in Canada! You have set up multiple future stories: The Colonel and Eleanor, co-starring Latimer the Grump and Mrs. Latimer his long-suffering wife. Then there are the twins who will raise all manner of havoc at their new school. Of course Lydia needs a new life and who better to guide her to her next chapter than Alice the housekeeper? Wasn’t there a hint of romance with Mr. Bennet and a lovely unknown lady in one of your chapters? And poor Mr. Wentworth needs his happy ending after having his heart broken by Jane. *sigh*

It’s funny you mention Alice; I did write a scene whereby she gave Lydia a good talking to. I am not sure I can fit it into the final chapter, so it may just be referred to, but we will see! 😉
The lady Mr Bennet saw in the bookshop turned out to be Mrs Annesley. They spent quite a bit of time together at the picnic, but then Mr Bennet received the Express telling him Lydia was missing, so he hasn’t seen her since then (almost a week ago). Doesn’t it seem ages ago!?!?!? :O
Ah yes, Mr Wentworth. Anyone related to the good Captain deserves his own HEA, doesn’t he? 😉

A delightful chapter in tying up so many loose ends. And I’m quite sure that Darcy cannot wait to be rid of Mr. Latimer’s rude, blustery presence!
I do hope that Eleanor and the Colonel can reach an understanding before the Latimers leave the following morning; they’re perfect for each other!
I just looooove the twins! They are so sweet and unaffected, so much the complete opposite of their elder sister! Bingley will have his hands full with them, but I’m sure he’s rather deal with their youthful exuberance than with Caroline’s presumptuous machinations! Poor man!! He has so many sisters to care for that it’s a wonder that he can remain so unperturbed, but we can see the extension of his happy spirits in the twins.
I look forward very much to the final chapter and then the epilogue. Thank you sooooooo much for writing and sharing it with us!! Such a wonderful story!!

It would be fabulous to meet for lunch! I’m not sure yet whether we will get down to San Diego or not (it’s a possibility!) but will let you know dates if so. We have been there once before, in 2008, and loved it though we can’t say we’ve had a grand tour of it! 😀

Oh! Cass, I do not want the story to end… your writing is addictive and I just want more of it. I can be consoled by the fact that you are starting another story just after you finish this one. I am already looking forward to it. I agree with Carole in Canada that A Fair Prospect is one of my favourite JAFF stories.
I just know that I will love the final chapter…Like others have done before me, I want to thank you for your generosity in sharing the story with us. I cannot wait to buy it in book form to add to my collection…

If the twins insist on calling the hound “Hero”, there’s every reason for you to change the sex of our heroic canine, you know, as in the tale of Hero (priestess of Aphrodite) and Leander. Then, Wickham’s end would have been entirely down to “girl power”!
Oh please let Eleanor be free of her father! I seem to remember accidentally calling them Lannisters way back, but although Eleanor thankfully hasn’t ended up as Cersei, her father is definitely looking more like Tywin than ever. The good Colonel would be a good match for her and she for him.
Presumably the arrival of the twins in Harrogate is reasonably imminent now? Probably best to keep clear of this coming Saturday, though. We have another bike race coming here (the wonderfully named “Tour de Yorkshire”) and the roads will be impassable for any conveyance with more than two wheels for most of the day. Please tell them that they’ll be more than welcome to call for afternoon tea should their school allow them off the premises at any time. I’m sure, with their love of canines, that our dogs will be more than happy to let them throw a few balls for them!
Don’t think I didn’t notice that sneaky little comment about a sequel to something, either! Am I right in thinking what I’m thinking? Are you and Ada up to something, by any chance?

I hope you are ready for the twins coming to Harrogate. They set off on Saturday, will stay with friends of Bingley on the Sabbath and arrive there on Monday. I think the twins would have loved to see the Tour de Yorkshire, though! 😉 I think they will definitely be calling for afternoon tea, especially with the added incentive of a couple of lovely hounds to meet!
LOL re the sequel. Poor Ada has had to sit twiddling her thumbs whilst I devoted the last 6 months or so to this story to get it finished. Then, we are starting to write the follow up to Particular Charm, and we’re very excited about it. We love writing together (it can be a very lonely thing on your own!), and we’re also looking forward to spending more time with Rose, Aiden, Morgan, James and of course Jane Austen herself!

Yes, the Epilogue will show what happens to the twins and Georgiana, and anyone else whose story arc is not finished by the closing chapter. It’s essentially a story about Darcy and Elizabeth, so I never intended to neatly tie up every single character, other than in the Epilogue.
I need to finish this one, though, as Ada is waiting patiently for me to be done with it so we can revisit the world of Rose and Aiden, Morgan and James and, of course, Jane Austen! Now, I wonder what she has in that trunk she brought with her from the past?!? 😉

I just love the twins, and I think a whole book centering around their continuing journey would be so much fun! I say this fully realizing that you have your other much anticipated sequel to work on, but might it be a thought for the future?
Miss Latimer has really come into her own and I agree that she and the Colonel would be a perfect match. I guess chances are low that she will be allowed to stay on at Pemberley when her father leaves.
I loved when Darcy asked Lizzy if they could be wed as soon as the Banns were read, and Lizzy responded with “Yes, please.” Ready for those two to get their hea. 🙂

I’m having a bit of a dilemma, to be honest. I never intended to write beyond the end of this story, other than an Epilogue. However, IF I do the Epilogue, then I remove any chance of a continuation of the story into another book… I am a bit torn. I definitely couldn’t start it for the next year, as Ada and I will be writing (as you know) the sequel to Particular Charm, but after that? Hmm… dilemmas, dilemmas! 😉
