Holy… omg! Just… I can’t even… that was wow! What a set down Elizabeth just delivered! And Darcy doesn’t get a foot to the ground, wow I’m shocked and surprised and a bit delighted! What a chapter!! Can’t wait to see what happens next

I know he was arrogant and sure of himself but oh! I do feel so sorry for Darcy. Obviously he’s innocent of Wickham’s claims and he thought he was doing the best re Bingley, Elizabeth needs to stop and actually listen to his explanations. Hopefully when the Colonel returns he and Georgiana can put her right? Meanwhile I think EE has realised where Darcy’s affections lie so I suppose she will try to manipulate the situation to her advantage? Please don’t let her succeed! 😱😱

I feel sorry for him too, but he hasn’t helped himself really. Never mind. We know it will all sort itself out… maybe… hopefully… one day… 😆

Wow! like others have said… I think I am going to read it again. Like Darcy’s my head is reeling. This was so much fun to read. Darcy needs to act and contact Bingley, who still has not forgotten Jane, and correct his previous undue influence on him. He is not that perceptive, Darcy, is he?

😂 Not very perceptive where Elizabeth is concerned, that’s for sure!

Oh my goodness!!! What a reveal. So looking forward to Saturday and Monday. Darcy is not the sharpest knife in the drawer due to his upbringing and undue pride. Lets hope he realizes his mistake.

I think he’s a bit clueless where women are concerned! 🤣

Oh, that was an excellent “Hunsford” moment. Need more!

Oh – this was even better than I hoped for! I loved how you set Darcy up for a brilliant set-down! And EE stepping in at the last moment – how wonderfully awful! Bravo!

Jane marrying Collins – tell me it isn’t so! I cannot blame Elizabeth for her outrage with Darcy. He has a lot of corrections to make and I hope Jane is willing to break an engagement IF Bingley shows up again. But he needs to grow a backbone also. Elizabeth Elliot almost caught Darcy off guard…whew…no rebound proposal there. Thanks for this chapter.

I agree re Bingley. He does need to stand on his own two feet!

OMG he didn’t even get the proposal out before she pounced! I LOVE IT! What a brilliant twist on Hunsford! Their words were brutal to read, and I imagine they will be more difficult for Lizzy and Darcy to eat. 😉 I have to go back and read it again. I read it with my heart pounding in my ears and I think I might have missed some of it. 😂 Brava!

Ok…after rereading, I will only add that Jane and Bingley better not get a free pass for being so wishy washy and contributing to this mess. Those two always get me riled. LOL

i may be alone here but I feel so badly for Darcy! Elizabeth has been getting on my nerves this whole time. Ok, shes upset on behalf of her sister but JANE made the decision. Bingley may have been influenced by Darcy but just as hes been writing pouty whiny letters to Darcy he can drag his childish behind back to Netherfeld but he is CHOOSING not too. Darcy isnt holding a gun to his head! The only difference between Lizzy and Darcy is Darcys friends actually listen to him because isnt Lizzy doing the same thing? Trying to tell Jane what to do? But unlike her erstwhile suitor Jane has a bit more backbone!
Elizabeth Bennet you are mean and being willfully obtuse! How many times has Anne tried to say something about Darcy only for Lizzy to cut her off.
Grrr to you, madam.

It’s great to hear anyone’s point of view, Isa! Glad to have you reading along!
I feel badly for Darcy too. Elizabeth is stubborn in her opinions and you are quite right, Jane made the decision (I’m not a huge fan of Jane generally).
I’m not a massive Bingley fan either, and I think he was very much at fault to take Darcy’s word and not see for himself if Jane was indifferent or not. Feeble man.
I think Elizabeth is blind where Darcy is concerned. Anne could come out with it and say he is interested in her (much as Charlotte did in the original) but Elizabeth would still ignore it!
She will start to realise though, and then it will be her turn to be heartsore!!!

And Ive never been a fan of Jane or Bingley!

It would be really helpful for us, Isa, if you would email me privately on cass.grafton@yahoo.com and tell me specifically what is making you so mad at Elizabeth.
We tried hard to have her in the same place she was (emotionally) when Darcy proposes in the original so if it needs toning down, we need to know!
