    Oh Jane is truly better at observing people than anybody gives her credit for! And yes Lizzie is still definitely falling for Darcy as sure as the sun set and rises each day! But I’m getting the chills about whoever/whatever is observing the Bennet girls! Cass, it’s evil to keep us in suspense like this! I do wonder what will happen now that Pemberley will have guests? Will old flames be rekindled? Or will new one be realised? I’m still holding my breath about Jane and Mr. Wentworth to be honest!

      I’m loving writing Jane and Lizzy like this! I love to think of them as being so close, that this is the sort of thing they’d understand about each other.

      Hmm, so many people due to arrive in Derbyshire! Who knows what will happen… well, I suppose I do… 😉

    How I love your story. I am very happy with Georgiana in this chapter, for trying to open Darcy’s eyes. Of course, he wouldn’t accept it but it was a nice beginning. I am always a bit apprehensive with stories where Darcy tries to deny his love for Elizabeth (I think because there are fewer of them, in most stories he is just trying to gain her affections). I guess I am worried for the heartbreak we will certainly have once Elizabeth comes to terms with her feelings and Ms Latimer arrives. Will Darcy be too committed with her once he realizes he has loved Elizabeth all along? Argh, I hate rivals for ODG!

    So Elizabeth is going to Pemberley house to deliver a note. Will we see more interaction for ODC? I can only hope. I wish you would post more often. From Tuesday to Thursday is an easy wait, but from Thursday to Tuesday is just too long!

    Anxiously waiting for a new chapter. 🙂

    Wickham popped into my mind as someone spying from the bushes and I am trying to remember if anything was written of his fate after Lydia was cast off and died? But how would he know of their presence in Derbyshire? They kept it a secret from everyone in Hertfordshire and don’t even go back to visit the graves. If it is Wickham…is he looking to tamper with Georgiana again or is he just lurking around his old stomping grounds looking to see what mischief he can make, what might gain him money or further “revenge” on Darcy. He can’t think Darcy loves Elizabeth at this point as they have not been in each other’s company for what?…a year? What has Wickham been doing all this time.

    Yes, Jane is displaying more insight as she places blame on the various shoulders for hopes built, and hopes disappointed.

    Thank you for this chapter. I am also trying to remember when/if this is to be published. I want to read to the end so badly! 9:20 AM here – have to go vote.

      I do plan to publish it, but although I know the end, the final chapters haven’t been written yet, so I’m not able to say when I’ll finish posting. I am trying very hard to get far enough ahead to increase the number per week, so bear with me 😀

    This is brilliant, I’m interested to know what happens when Elizabeth goes to deliver her message. Also what happens when Darcy’s guests arrive, will he be able to overcome his love for Elizabeth with Miss Larimer. Perhaps Elizabeth will turn up just as the guests are arriving!

      Don’t have high expectations of Elizabeth seeing Darcy when delivering her message though. You may recall he and Georgiana are on their way to Matlock to see their aunt and uncle and won’t return until evening.

    I am quite vexed with you, Cass! To tug on my heart-strings with Georgiana’s hopefulness and Jane’s quiet wisdom, then rip them to shreds with evil lurking in the bushes! It’s unaccountable of you! What unwelcome fate is to befall our dear Lizzy while she walks unescorted to the ‘House’? What is to become of me until Thursday? I shall go all distracted!

    Enjoying it very much too! I can only read it late because I work till quite late on Tuesdays. I am tempted to wait a few weeks so I can read a few chapters all together. I also think it must be Wickham the one lurking in the shadows…we’ll see. It is fun to speculate where the story will go.

    Loving the interactions between Darcy and Georgiana, and Jane and Elizabeth. I agree with everything that’s been said earlier about the feelings D & E are trying to convince themselves that they don’t have. What I would like to say is that it definitely doesn’t sound as though Jane is pining for Bingley, especially as she then more or less drops everything when Mr. Wentworth asks for assistance.

    That first brief mention of Elizabeth feeling like she was being watched sent a little shiver down my spine, too. Can it be anyone other than Wickham? Has whoever it is heard that Elizabeth is heading off to Pemberley, most likely alone, and thus planning some nefarious deed? Ah well, only two days to wait!

      I think the thing for me with Jane is that she knew Bungley for only 2 months (he moved to Netherfield at the end of September and left soon after the ball held on 26th November), and not all of that time did she know him well. Although in the original novel, she happily accepts him in the end, I like to think that she had enough backbone not to pine after him beyond a few months? Besides, when there’s a Wentworth, there’s a way… perhaps! 😉

      Getting tomorrow’s chapter ready now! Don’t worry too much for Elizabeth…. yet…

    And I’ve just realised that I made a typo of a typo in my original comment. I actually typed Bingley instead of Bungley – darn these virtual keyboards! Then monring instead of morning in a reply and live instead of love in another. Maybe I need some new batteries in my glasses and fingers! Or perhaps it’s shell shock from the events overnight.

    Oh, how I feel for Darcy. Poor man, still thinking of Miss Latimer and his unchanged plans. You don’t stand a chance! Maybe more angst but you don’t stand a chance!

    Georgiana and Jane, oh you two should be locked up in a room together to scheme about their siblings! Thank you, Jane, for helping Lizzy realize the truth of her opinions and feelings about Darcy. I agree that in modern times Darcy and Jane would have gotten along better, being similar in nature (keeping their cards close to their chest) and choosing to do the best for their loved ones.

    However… this chapter brings forth a stranger in the bushes… hmmm… that makes me more apprehensive than the visitors coming to Pemberley!

    Lizzy’s sense of being watched concerns me…I wonder if Wickham has returned?? And although it is a sad story, I wish to know how Lydia died…and whether Wickham was at fault.

    I have just caught up on all the chapters I have been missing! I was close to tears on this last chapter as Jane makes Lizzy face her true self. As much as ODC deny their feelings for each other in their minds, their hearts will not allow it nor will their sisters. I think Jane has certainly grown over the past year since the death of their mother and Lydia. I believe she has come to ‘see’ people for what they truly are. Being so ostracized and shunned by not only friends but also family, opened her eyes, however it didn’t make her bitter. That was beautifully done. As much as I like my ‘Wentworth’, I do hope he is not taking advantage of Jane’s good nature. I guess he is waiting for the mourning period to be over though. As for Bingley, he may very well have his work cut out for him. Jane’s reaction to seeing him again should be interesting and a possible indicator. I can only imagine the mischief the twins will get up too!

    As for the feeling of being watched, I too think it may be Wickham…hopefully he doesn’t overhear any of the conversations!
