We are only a few days from the publication of Mr Darcy’s Persuasion (still available to pre-order HERE, or via the QR Code below), and we’ve been thinking of ways to celebrate the launch.
As you probably know, Ada and I live thousands of miles (and a 9-hour time difference) apart, so celebrating together on ‘the’ day is going to be a challenge like no other. In fact, this is the first time we’ve written an entire novel without meeting in person at the beginning to brainstorm the plot!
That’s not to say we haven’t chatted online copious times, of course, and as that is how we initially met nearly 19 years ago, it feels very natural to us. Nowadays, we have the added benefit of video chats too, which tend to take place in the early morning for me and late at night for Ada – which suits us perfectly, as those are our respective best times of day (though you might not believe it, looking at the photos)!
So, with this particular launch, we’ve had to get creative over how to mark a day that’s incredibly special to us – if you’ve ever been to any of our other book launches or signings, in the UK or USA, you’ll know that when we are able to be together, we like to celebrate properly!
We’ve decided it would be nice to share the day with readers as much as possible, and have had a lot of fun gathering some lovely Austen-inspired or themed gifts to give away to readers once the book is out there. Today, we thought we’d share some of them with you:
Jane Austen mouse, anyone?

- Jane Austen mouse
Made exclusively for me by my sister – who has an Etsy Store, Jackie’s Jamboree, HERE, there will be 4 of these adorable creatures up for grabs. Beautifully handmade, Jane is holding a knitted book (in a variety of book cover colours), and stands at about 7″ tall (17 cms).
Rather sweetly, each one seems to have a different character, as you can see from the photo of them all gathered together (there are 5 here, because one is for me)!
The one in the middle (front) is so cute, peeping out from under her cap!
Aside from the family of Jane Austen mice, we’ve also gathered a few other gems, including some gorgeous notebooks, pencils with Austen quotes, a Pride & Prejudice scarf, a Persuasion themed key ring and necklace and more!
One of my personal favourites of all the gifts we’ve gathered, however, are some hand-written copies of Captain Wentworth’s gorgeous letter to Anne Elliot. It’s beautifully presented, sealed and tied with a ribbon, and there are three up for grabs!
What’s more, there is also a hand-written copy of Mr Darcy’s letter to Elizabeth Bennet – a much longer piece of correspondence!
