Back to my roots… in more ways than one!
Hi! It’s me. I’m Cassie. I’ve come home…
Okay, slightly daft Kate Bush/Wuthering Heights-inspired intro, but it just sort of popped into my head!
Onto the matter in hand:
Followers of this blog over the years will remember, I’m sure, that my writing origins began with Jane Austen-inspired stories. Probably most notably was A Quest for Mr Darcy, a rather long tale that I posted in serial form here during 2016 and 2017. Known affectionately (by some) as ‘the beast’, due to its extensive length, it will always have a special place in my heart.
Root One!
However, as you may also recall, my last fully Austen-inspired novel was a co-write with my friend and writing partner, Ada Bright – namely, Mr Darcy’s Persuasion (2021) and a crossover of (you’ll never guess!) two of Jane’s novels, Pride & Prejudice and Persuasion.
I’m delighted to say that the story is now available in audio! Narrated beautifully by the talented Harry Frost, it’s available on Audible.com, Amazon and iTunes BUT we have some codes to share so that it can be downloaded for free by anyone in the UK or US (sorry about the restriction, it’s not set by us!)

Root Two!
On a more personal note, I’ve sort of physically gone back to my roots too in the last few months with a move from the north-east of England to the West Country – funnily enough, to ‘Somersetshire’, the location for Mr Darcy’s Persuasion!
We lived in beautiful Somerset many years ago and when work commitments dragged us away – kicking and screaming – sending us on adventures to other parts of the UK and then onward to two different countries – we always vowed to return, so to have finally come back has brought us happiness beyond words.
It’s also bringing with it great inspiration, so lots of writing to come!
And finally…
Still on the subject of audio, I’m so happy to say that the entire five-book Little Cornish Cove series is now out in audio, and you can find them on Audible here, along with the audio links for the Austen Adventures and Mr Darcy’s Persuasion, or on Amazon here.
