I knew the twins had seen Lydia! So now Darcy will tell Elizabeth everything!! I hope while he does so, he is careful to tell her about his feelings and how this situation with Lydia won’t change his heart. Please, dear author, let him reassure her of his feelings and intentions. Elizabeth was having all those ideas about her unsuitability and Darcy must put them to rest.
I can’t wait for them to find Lydia. I am sorry for the poor girl. I am so curious to know about all this mystery!
I’m feeling more sorry for Lydia than I thought I would, Daniela.
I’m sure Darcy will do his best to put things as right as he can!
So many questions!
Poor Elizabeth.
And wentworth coming to pemberly.
Back to questions!
Can’t wait to see what happens next!
The funny thing is, Carol, I feel like I’m starting to give answers! I think it’s because I know the plot that I don’t realise more questions are popping up all the time! 😉
Oh my…for so many reasons. Seeing the locket at the pawnbrokers, seeing the drawing of ‘the ghost’ who is is Lydia…poor Lydia, poor Elizabeth. Now I wonder if Jane and Georgiana came upon Lydia! Why would she come back for an extra basket???? Oh the shock of it all! What if they rescue Lydia…what will Wickham do? The tension is mounting and now Darcy has to explain what he knows. Then Wentworth shows up to confuse the matter…but has he come upon Lydia and seeing Georgiana and Jane asks them to bring a basket???? Oh my indeed!
Looking forward to Wednesday!!! Thank you!
Sorry it’s raising even more questions, Carole! All will be revealed soon!
A lovely chapter Cass. There can only be one person who can buy that locket back! Poor Elizabeth, she must be very confused, but it seems Darcy is about to reveal all next Wednesday.
And please can someone buy Elizabeth some lip balm, her lips are going to be so sore from all her chewing!
LOL, Ruth. Yes, I think there will need to be some editing out of the lip chewing/biting! 😉
I don’t remember the receipt falling from a book. But that would explain who took the necklace.
Oh, Mrs. Reynolds…yes, Mr. Darcy does NEED her. Love a perceptive housekeeper.
And the speculation of some that if the twins drew Lydia’s picture, they had, indeed, seen her.
What a shock for Elizabeth! And I am sure sooner or later, for Jane. But does Mr. Bennet know of Lydia’s being alive…we further speculate that this is the “daughter” Wickham is blackmailing Mr. B. about.
Thanks for writing. Looking forward to Wednesday next.
It was Chapter Twenty-Nine, Sheila, when the receipt fell on the floor in Mr Bennet’s library. 😀
Not a lot is getting past either Alice or Mrs Reynolds! There must be a school for training observant housekeepers! 😉
So she did see the picture but you left us hanging again. I tell you DA, I just can’t eat any more chocolate! My poor nerves. Oh, why is Wednesday so far away?
Whoops, sorry, Jen! 😉
I think Mr Bennet might know of Lydia existence but Wickman must have told him that Lydia was his prisoner. But somehow she managed to escape and Wickham, of course, didn’t tell Mr Bennet anything, otherwise he wouldn’t be able to blackmail him anymore. That is why Lydia is wandering the woods near The Grange and Pemberley. Wickham must have held her prisoner in a place near there. I wonder how much she suffered, poor thing. We have to remember that she was only 16 when she run away with Wickham in Brighton. Oh, man, I can only imagine how desperate Elizabeth will be once she hears the truth from Darcy.
Lots of speculation, Daniela! Lots of answers coming up in the next few chapters!
Well, I’m not going to think about the Lydia conundrum at all (I’m channeling my inner Lydia at the moment — or maybe it’s my inner Scarlett O’Hara — “I can’t think about that right now. If I do, I’ll go crazy.”) Instead, I’m going to put all my focus into thinking about the very pleasant hand holding between Darcy and Elizabeth. How wonderful that it was his touch that was able to penetrate her shock. *sigh* And how wonderful that he dropped everything to rush to her assistance. (See how pleasant I can make everything when I choose to ignore disturbing events?) Wednesday’s post should be quite enlightening. I just hope there is more hand holding!
Your wish is my command, Jan! 😉
I’m glad you picked up on the pleasanter things! ❤
Oh, my!! Yes, this will be a challenging conversation to have with Elizabeth…especially about why the gentlemen have not approached Elizabeth and Jane with their suspicions.I understand that they didn’t wish to raise their hopes unnecessarily, but still, they should have brought in the Bennet family a little earlier than this…once they were fairly certain that they were pursuing Lydia. I have a feeling that Elizabeth is not going to be terribly happy with Darcy….
And Wentworth…I wonder whether he has been involved at all in helping Lydia. Or once Jane dismisses him, if he will find himself enamored of Jane’s youngest sister?? (Just letting my imagination range freely here, LOL!).
(Personally, I think that Jane might be better off with Wentworth than with Bungley, but that’s just me; I’ve never been a fan of Bungley as I shall ever and always refer to him.)
Thank you for quite a pivotal chapter, and I am looking forward with great anticipation to next Wednesday!!
Warmly,
Susanne 🙂
We’ve neglected good old Bungley a bit lately, haven’t we?
I would like to see Wentworth happy too. I know he’s not had much ‘air space’, but anyone who’s related to Captain Wentworth is okay for me! lol
Oh what a great chapter!! And so many questions to be answered. I cannot wait for Wednesday or for the book to be completed so that I can buy it and read it over and over again!! I am already envisioning a wonderful next couple of chapters even though Lydia’s background is dark, I think she is essentially just a lost girl who did’nt get to mature in her own time, so I’m pleased that she may be given a second chance. So happy that Mr Darcy is not going to keep Elizabeth in the dark and is willing to reveal the info too. Thanks Cass.
You’re welcome, Tish Tim!
Lots of answers coming, and I just hope people are happy with the outcomes!
An outstanding chapter. I hope the Lattimers will depart before too much more about Lydia can be discovered. I would also be nice to see the Colonel have an attractive heiress find him, since he must marry for money! Impatiently waiting for Wednesday!
Yes, the Colonel needs an heiress, but I’d also like him to be happy! ❤
I think the Latimers need to go too, Lizzybel! 😉
Just finished reading and it has made my day. It has been a long day and I have enjoyed cuddling up to read this chapter. Love, as always, when Darcy and Lizzy talk to each other, hold hands and look at each other. I am going to love next chapter, I know it. As others have said, some questions have been answered but more are emerging.
It makes me so happy that it pleased you, Cristina!
Yes, lots of D/E talk to come!
HOLY REGENCY CASS! Omg how can you leave us at such a time?! The plot thickens! Did Mr. Bennet sell the locket? And why should he be in need of money enough to sell that necklace?! And how can Lydia be alive?!
And worse how is Darcy going to explain how and what he suspects?! Will it shatter their fragile trust and love?! Omg what an exciting chapter!
LOL, Sophia! You make me smile! 😀
I hope to answer some of your questions next week! Lots going on!
Great Chapter! When Darcy took Lizzy’s hand and Lizzy finally came out of her trance, that was so sweet. Love how everyone (except Mr. Latimer) is taking opportunities to get Lizzy and Darcy together. Yay for Mrs. Reynolds and for the twins. Both knew whom to get when one of the couple was in need. 🙂 I’m looking forward to “the walk” next week!
Yes, only Darcy would do, Maureen, and even the twins realised it! 😉
I’m writing the ‘walk and talk’ right now! 😀 ❤
Wow…Cass, you definitely know how to leave us wanting more! Excellent chapter…already tod my husband that when this come “out”, it will be going in my library! Everyone has done exceptionally well breaking this chapter down…this is becoming a real “nail biter”!!!
Aww, Ann, that’s so sweet! I am touched to think you will be adding me to your library! ❤
Well, that would be a shock to ones system. Would it not? Tinkling your sister dead a full year and then …
I love Viola and Olivia. So adventurous, yet such innocence. I dare say you could write a book about those two all on their own. It’s quite a good idea you know. A small novella about the two of them coming out and what fine catches they end up making. 😉
Well, I for one am quite looking forward to this discussion between our dear couple.
I’m glad you are feeling better, Cass. Hope you got enough rest. There are some bad germs going around and for some reason my youngest seems to attract them all. Not fun. Tomorrow will be her first full day back to school 2-1/2 weeks.
Looking forward to Wednesday.
Thinking*
I’m loving the word ‘tinkling’, Trez! 😉
The twins are a bit of a handful, aren’t they, but they are nice girls too! I like to think they made happy matches in the end!
Sorry to hear about your youngest. I do hope she coped okay with her return to school, poor thing. ❤
Aha! The twins did see “the ghost” well enough for Viola to have sketched Lydia. What a way for Elizabeth to find out though. At least those two young mischiefs had enough nous to send for the right person to pull her out of her fugue. I also have a sneaking feeling that the same person might justvrescue the locket, if he finds out about it.
Off now to find out what happens on “the walk”.
Yes, not a lot gets past the twins regarding their hope for Darcy and Elizabeth! They seem to have neglected their own brother of late, so Jane ought to watch out for when they realise!
