I am glad ODC could talk and reassure one another. And now Lydia is probably found! I am just confused at what Wentworth is thinking right now! I hope Darcy set things right quickly! Can’t wait for more!

Loved the sweet tentative moments between Darcy and Elizabeth…progress of any type with them is so good to read of. Wentworth, as a vicar, must have to keep many secrets, much like a priest hearing confession, so even if his mind wonders at the relationship I am sure he will not slander the man to others. But I am also sure that this is coming to a climax as to what has happened to Lydia, and even Wickham, over the past year.
I am thinking about how Jane will receive this news and if any of it will be talked about by the twins. Please don’t let Latimer hear and spread gossip or even attempt to use Lydia’s disgrace to put difficulties in ODC’s path.

What a delightful chapter, and so well written, as always. I am glad Lydia is found at last, and I do wonder what happened to her and I suspect Mr Bennet has been very naughty, has been lying to his daughters, and all those secrets may explain why he insisted on nursing Mrs Bennet himself for fear she reveals the truth. I do hope he shall come sufficiently chastised in the next chapters. I do wonder how Elizabeth will react to all this deceit, she will be very disappointed in her father. Thank God she is sure of Darcy now. What imagination you have!

Squeeee! So much good stuff happened in this chapter — lots of hand holding and hand kissing. (See, once again I’m choosing to not see the worry or concern and am only concentrating on the positive — I’ve definitely mastered the Scarlett O’Hara mindset.) However, I do agree with the other commenters that Mr. Bennet really has lots of ‘splainin’ to do when he returns. His surly, blustery, don’t-bother-me attitude is not going to work this time. I don’t think any of the musketeers or the Bennet girls are going to let him retreat without a full and complete accounting of what he knew, when he knew it, and why he withheld it. *rubs hands in gleeful anticipation*

Oh yes, Darcy needed the hand holding and so did I! That was a great chapter all around. So my speculation that Georgiana and Jane did not come upon her was wrong. I’m thinking this may cause Wentworth to reconsider whether he should continue his pursuit of Miss Jane Bennet. I’m not sure he would feel it appropriate, being a man of the church, to be part of this ‘scandal’ if it should become known. Mind you, I am just speculating here…hmmm maybe he will surprise us and about Lydia and you could write another book on them finding their way to each other? I know, that is way out in left field and you haven’t finished this one yet!
One can only imagine (other than yourself) what Mr. Bennet knew and for how long! Can’t wait for that chapter too!

Wow, what an amazing chapter!! The scene between Darcy and Elizabeth was beautifully poignant, and their feelings for one another so clear, The entire scene between them gave me goosebumps!
I wonder if Wentworth isn’t thinking the worst of Darcy at this time. After all, a bedraggled young woman arrives on foot after obviously living in the woods for some time, and she requests Darcy and Darcy only? Wentworth could easily surmise that she is a cast-off; these wealthy young “gentlemen” of the Ton would not be above such shenanigans, and we don’t know if Wentworth is sufficiently knowledgeable of Darcy’s upright character to think him innocent in such damning circumstances. Or whether Wentworth’s trust in Darcy’s honor would outweigh the obviously sordid implications of this young woman’s capture and request to speak only to Darcy.
At least Friday is only two days away! Thank you for *not* posting this chapter with a weekend between it and the next chapter!! 😉

I think Wentworth's first thoughts might be exactly what you suggest, and why wouldn't he think it, even if he believes Darcy to be a true gentleman? As you say, it was the way of the world for some young men, and I think as a man of the church, he would have seen plenty of the repercussions.
I hadn't thought about the gap if I'd posted this before a weekend. Eeek! 'I must try not to have a cliffie in Chapter Forty Eight'. Repeat to self: 'I must try not to have a cliffie in Chapter Forty Eight'… whoops. Too late! 😉

Another great chapter. I am relieved that D&L have come to an understanding of sorts. I am also interested in what Lydia’s story will be. Whatever it is, I know that Darcy will do all in his power to rid the family of the threat of Wickham. I hope you have planned a good downfall for him!

Uhhhh Casssssssss why oh why do you continue to leave us hanging in such wonderful chapters?! Both the interaction between Darcy and Elizabeth which definitely gave me my fill though seriously why didn’t he kiss her?!!? It was so perfect a moment to kiss her!
And now Lydia is found, now get her back to her sisters and soundly kiss Elizabeth sounds like a damn fine plan in my head!

So it was Lydia who took the jewelry and pawned it. So she could maybe get food and other necessities.
She probably sees a little more clearly the damage she herself has caused. I wonder what Mr Bennet knows, or does not know. He could be being blackmailed to keep Lydia away, to not cause more damage to the other sisters… I’d like to think that’s not what is happening, however, we are talking about Wickham here.
Well, at least now Darcy and Elizabeth are firm in their understanding of one another. Some very nice interaction there!

Loved the D and L interactions. Glad Lydia has been found. So…why did she ask for Darcy? Does she have a message for him from Wickham? I can’t imagine her being a willing participant in any of Wickham’s current schemes with the way she is living right now. But why has she been hiding all this time rather than revealing herself to her sisters? Can’t wait to hear what she has to say!

I’m loving the fact everyone is convinced this must be Lydia. Hmm, evil author has an idea… it will turn out to be Mary… or even Kitty… or someone completely different… mwhahaha. No? No, I don’t really want to bring them into the story at this stage either! 😉

For a moment there, I thought the walk and talk was going to go terribly wrong when Elizabeth got a bit uppity with Darcy for not telling her earlier about Lydia. Needn’t have worried though, as it all turned out rather wonderfully. Mind you, I was inwardly shouting, “Go on! Time for a snog! You know you want to, Darcy!” Although part of me understands why you decided otherwise, I still wanted it!
I wonder how Jane is going to take all this? Actually, thinking back to when she and Georgiana went back for another basket, does she already know? Did Mr. Wentworth send them for some food for the young woman in the barn? I really hope he doesn’t suspect Darcy to have been “up to no good” with her. Surely a Wentworth has more sense than that?
